My best Beyoncé impression: visit to Brunswick sparks a wave of imitators

Version 0 of 1.

The Melbourne suburb of Brunswick is better known for its fixed-gear bicycles and “yarn-bombing” than international pop superstars, so the visit of Beyoncé to a quiet residential street in the area has caused something of a stir.

The singer was photographed posing outside a vintage weatherboard house on Beith Street, braving the Melbourne chill in a white leotard. Jeanette Meadows, the 80-year-old owner of the house, initially thought Beyoncé’s aides were referring to a “fiancé” instead of the famous performer.

The reaction on social media was instantaneous, with the BeyonceinBrunswick Tumblr placing the former Destiny Child star among other local delights, such as Town Hall Kebabs and Centrelink, where she was supposedly waiting for Kelly and Michelle.

In what may become a long-standing musical pilgrimage, Melburnians have been flocking to Meadows’ house to recreate Beyoncé’s pose for themselves.
