Bomb plot
On Monday, Lapshyn pleaded guilty to the murder of 82-year-old Mohammed Saleem in Small Heath, Birmingham.
Mr Saleem was walking home from a mosque when he was attacked by Lapshyn, who had been in the UK for less than a week.
The 25-year-old also admitted plotting to cause explosions near mosques in Walsall, Tipton and Wolverhampton in June and July.
His sentencing hearing was continuing on Friday.
