A six-mile stretch of the A1 in North Yorkshire has been closed after a HGV jack-knifed, blocking both carriageways. A lorry crash has blocked both carriageways of the A1(M) in North Yorkshire forcing the road to be shut.
The lorry crashed at about 20:10 BST at the junction with the A59. The driver's injuries are unknown, police said. Emergency crews were called at 20:10 BST when the lorry jack-knifed at junction 47, at Allerton Park. The driver's injuries are not known.
The road has been closed between Allerton Park and Boroughbridge and could remain shut for several hours. The Highways Agency said drivers were being diverted around the junction, at the A168, and back on to the A1(M).
