Seven men were arrested during police raids ahead of the Wear-Tyne derby at the Stadium of Light. Police have praised the majority of football fans who attended Sunday's Wear-Tyne derby in Sunderland.
The men were held at 05:00 GMT on suspicion of conspiring to commit violent disorder and breaching football banning order conditions, Northumbria Police said. Officers made 20 arrests, including seven in a pre-planned raid before the game at the Stadium of Light. Most were for public order offences.
