Fallen trees have blocked roads across Berkshire following storm-force winds overnight. Homes have been evacuated when a gas main was fractured by a fallen tree during overnight storms.
Reading Bridge was closed after trees blocked either end of the crossing just after 06:30 GMT. About 40 properties were emptied in the Calcot area of Reading after damage was reported at 07:20 GMT. Firefighters enforced a 560m (1,830ft) cordon as engineers carry out repairs.
Rail services on South West Trains and CrossCountry have been affected by the conditions with a number of services cancelled until mid-morning. Fallen trees blocked a number of roads including Reading Bridge in Caversham.
Some First Great Western Trains services in the Thames Valley were cancelled due to the conditions. The bridge was closed when trees blocked both ends just after 06:30 GMT, but reopened just before 09:30.
Emergency services were called to the Calcot area of Reading following reports a gas pipe was damaged by a fallen tree. Royal Berkshire Fire and Rescue said it received more than 50 calls about storm damage overnight.
Police responded to a suspected leak near the golf club at about 07:20 GMT. Two polo ponies were rescued from their stable block when a tree crashed onto its roof.
Firefighters have enforced a 560m (1,830ft) cordon and 40 homes have been evacuated. The animals were unhurt and crews from Wokingham managed to cut them free from the stable at Billingbear Farm in Binfield, near Bracknell.
