Couple arrested over death of toddler in Peterborough Man charged with murder of toddler in Peterborough

A couple have been arrested in connection with the death of a toddler. A man has been charged with murder after a two-year-old girl died.
The girl, aged about two, was taken to Peterborough City Hospital with serious injuries at 11:00 GMT on Thursday and died shortly before 13:00 GMT, Cambridgeshire Police said. Dean Harris, 19, of Yaxley, Cambridgeshire, will appear before Peterborough Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
A man, 19, is being held on suspicion of murder. A 28-year-old woman, believed to be the girl's mother, was also arrested and has been released on police bail.
His 28-year-old girlfriend, believed to be the child's mother, is being questioned on suspicion of causing or allowing the child's death. The girl was taken to Peterborough City Hospital with serious injuries at 11:00 GMT on Thursday and died shortly before 13:00 GMT, Cambridgeshire Police said.
It is understood the couple took the girl to hospital themselves. Both are being questioned at a Peterborough police station. Mr Harris is understood to be the mother's partner and it is believed the couple took the girl to hospital themselves.
