http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-25067084 Version 0 of 1. A number of people have escaped injury after a shot was fired inside a pub in Newcastle in County Down. Two masked men, one armed with a gun, entered the bar on Main Street shortly before 21:30 GMT on Friday. As they left a shot was fired. No-one was hurt. Police have appealed for anyone who noticed any suspicious activity in the area or who has any information to contact them. Local Alliance councillor Patrick Clarke said he was "very concerned" by what had happened and criticised those behind "this act of violence". "Those behind this incident clearly don't care about whose lives they put at risk. This would have been a terrible ordeal for anyone in the vicinity and we must be thankful no-one was seriously hurt," he said. "I would appeal to anyone with information to contact the PSNI as soon as possible, so these individuals can be removed from our streets." |
