Police have named a man whose body was recovered from the scene where a police helicopter crashed into a pub in Glasgow killing eight people as Gary Arthur, 48. Police have named a man whose body was recovered from the scene where a police helicopter crashed into a pub in Glasgow killing eight people as Gary Arthur, 48. He was the father of the Celtic and Scotland under-19 women's football forward Chloe Arthur.
Eight people have been confirmed dead and 14 people are in hospital with serious injuries following the crash at the Clutha Vaults at 10.25pm on Friday night. Police Scotland said: "As part of the ongoing investigation in relation to the helicopter crash at the Clutha Vaults, Stockwell Street, Glasgow, Police Scotland has confirmed that the body of a male has been recovered from the scene. The male has now been identified as Gary Arthur, aged 48, from the Paisley area. His family have been informed."
Police said the operation to recover the remaining bodies from the scene is continuing. Chloe Arthur, 18, tweeted her thanks to everyone for their thoughts and pledged she would make her father proud. "RIP dad. You'll always mean the world to me, I promise to do you proud, I love you with all my heart. Thanks to everyone who has tweeted me, texted me etc – it means so much, I have the most amazing friends ever."
