Police and witnesses say a Metro-North passenger train has derailed in New York City. The Fire Department of New York says there are "multiple injuries" in a Metro-North passenger train derailment in the Bronx, but the extent of the injuries is unclear.

Metropolitan Transportation Authority police say the train derailed Sunday morning near the Spuyten Duyvil station. Photographs taken of the accident scene show eight cars derailed. The agency says the crash was reported by the engineer and it wasn't clear if any crew members are injured.
It is not yet clear if anyone was injured. The FDNY said the train derailment was reported at 7.20am on Sunday. The fire department says 130 firefighters are on the scene.
