Rooftop robbers steal cash from Liverpool Halifax bank

Police said up to four offenders threatened staff at Halifax, on Prescot Road, Old Swan, shortly after closing time on Monday. A member of staff was knocked over and suffered neck injuries when the group dropped down into the building. Officers found a Land Rover Freelander abandoned on nearby Aylesford Road. The vehicle is now being examined. The group are all described as white and in their late teens or early 20s. They were wearing dark clothing and grey face coverings. Det Insp Mark Kameen described the incident as "highly unusual". He said: "[Bank staff] were cashing up at the end of the day when the offenders forced their way in through the roof space, catching staff by surprise." |
