'Shocking impact' A police spokesman said the officer was shot in the face, neck and right hand. The injuries to her neck and hand were described as serious.
Assistant Chief Constable Geoff Dodd said the arrest followed information from the public. He said a firearm had also been recovered. The officer is a member of a neighbourhood response team and is 33 years old, police said.
