Crews from three fire engines took 40 minutes to put out the blaze outside the Thomas Hardye School in Dorchester. The blaze outside the Thomas Hardye School in Dorchester began at about 08:40 GMT and students were evacuated from two blocks just before lessons started.
Dorset Fire and Rescue Service received the call at 08:48 GMT and students from two blocks were evacuated just before lessons started.
No pupils were on board the bus during the fire. A school spokesman said children had returned to lessons.
The bus was destroyed and the cause is not yet known.
