Paignton student blinded in one eye in attack

A student has been left blind in one eye after an attack this summer, it has emerged.

The 17-year-old boy was the victim of an unprovoked attack in Southfield Road, Paignton on 16 July, said Devon and Cornwall Police.

The force revealed that the unnamed teenager has now lost the sight of one eye after a retina became detached as a result of the attack.

Police want to speak to three teenage boys about the attack.

A police spokesman said: "The student has undergone numerous surgical procedures as well as having to wear a silicone prosthesis which alters his facial features.

"We are looking for witnesses to this assault. In particular a male taxi driver who witnessed the assault and chased the group."

One of the teenagers police want to speak to was wearing a yellow hoodie and jeans and another was wearing a black sweatshirt with a white stripe down the centre of the back.

All three are described as white, two are medium build.
