| Mold market crash: Eight hurt as car hits stalls | |

| Eight people have been taken to hospital after a car crashed into market stalls in a north Wales town. | |
| The incident happened in Mold high street at around 10:53 GMT on Saturday. | |
| It is not clear why the vehicle drove down the street, which is closed to traffic on market days, but witnesses have been asked to come forward. | |
| Emergency services say two of those hurt have serious but not life-threatening injuries and the scene has now been cleared. | |
| Trader Paul Bingham said he heard the revving of a car engine before the vehicle collided with one of his customers. | |
| His mobile phone stall is at the top of the market but the vehicle, believed to be a Peugeot, missed his trailer and ploughed into another nearby. | |
| "It was horrendous," he told BBC Wales. | |
| "We had a car come through the market. We are all in shock. I'm going home. I can't work today." | |
| Other stalls outside the Halifax bank were also being cleared away with debris lying on the ground while other sections of the market carried on trading. | |
| 'Hell of a bang' | |
| Shoppers and traders went to the assistance of some of the injured people while other witnesses explained how the emergency services were on the scene within minutes. | |
| They described how the nearby town hall was used as a rest centre and staff at the bank brought out cups of tea to people shocked by what they had seen and heard. | |
| Eye witness Helen Freak told BBC Wales: "It made a hell of a bang, and it hit a concrete dragon. | |
| "I think that sort of alerted people to what was going on and we watched this car career through the market with people just trying to get out of the way - pushchairs, kids - it was horrible." | |
| Trader Beryl McGinnes said of the woman in the passenger seat of the car: "She looked petrified." | |
| North Wales Ambulance Service said five people, including the two seriously hurt, have been taken by ambulance to the Wrexham Maelor Hospital. | |
| A female patient has been flown by air ambulance to Glan Clwyd Hospital and two female patients with minor injuries have also been taken by ambulance to the Countess of Chester Hospital. | |
| None of the injuries are life-threatening and crews also treated number of casualties at the scene with minor injuries. | |
| North Wales Police chief inspector Dave Owens said: "I would like to commend the positive actions of the market traders and locals from the community at the time of the incident and the subsequent response." | |
| The scene had been cleared by around 12:30 GMT. |
