A pedestrian has died after being hit by a vehicle on the A709 Dumfries to Lockerbie road. A teenager who died in hospital after being struck a car in the early hours of Sunday morning has been named.
Police said the collision happened at about 05:30 near the entrance to the Lochar Moss disposal site. Andrew Jardine, who was 19 and from Dumfries, was hit by the vehicle on the A709 Dumfries to Lockerbie road.
The casualty was taken to Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary but was pronounced dead a short time later. The collision happened at about 05:30 near the entrance to the Lochar Moss recycling site.

The road was expected to be closed for several hours while investigations were carried out. They are also trying to trace Mr Jardine's movements and want to speak to anyone he had been with on Saturday night.
The driver of the blue Mercedes car was uninjured and stopped to help the teenager.
