Four rescued from Folkestone flat blaze

Kent Fire and Rescue Service said a man, a woman and a child were led to safety from a flat above a commercial premises in Cheriton, early on Sunday. The baby was rescued from the property by a firefighter on a ladder. All four were taken to hospital with smoke inhalation. Police and fire teams said they were investigating the cause of the blaze. A Kent Police spokeswoman said the force was called to reports of a fire at about 04:15 GMT in Risborough Lane. She said several people were rescued and officers were looking at how and where the fire may have started. The fire service said crews wearing breathing apparatus led the three to safety using an internal staircase. Paramedics were also called to the scene. |
