The collision - involving a silver Chevrolet Matiz - was at about 08:50 on the A90 Dundee to Forfar road near a Jet service station. Sybil Butchart, of Colonsay Terrace, died at the scene after being hit by a silver Chevrolet Matiz at about 08:50 on the A90 Dundee to Forfar road.
The woman, said by police to be local to the area, died at the scene. Police said the 20-year-old driver of the car was uninjured.
Police said the 20-year-old driver of the the car was uninjured. Officers are attempting to confirm the identity of the woman and contact her relatives. Officers have appealed for anyone who may have witnessed Mrs Butchart movements prior to the collision to contact them.
The road's northbound carriageway was temporarily closed to allow the emergency services to complete their work and carry out detailed investigations.
The road has now re-opened in both directions.
Police Scotland have asked anyone who saw the incident to contact them.
