Israeli forces on Friday fatally shot a Palestinian man who approached the border fence separating Gaza from Israel and wounded five others at several points along the fence, Palestinian medical officials said. The Israeli military said that Palestinians had thrown rocks at soldiers near the fence and fired a mortar shell into Israel. Ouda Hamad, 22, was the third Palestinian to be killed in clashes with Israeli soldiers this week. On Wednesday and Thursday, Israeli forces in the West Bank killed two Palestinians, one during arrest raids in the Jenin refugee camp and one in Qalqilya. The military said the man killed in Qalqilya had fired on the soldiers. A spokesman for the Palestinian president, Mahmoud Abbas, condemned the West Bank killings as a “dangerous Israeli escalation” meant to undermine peace negotiations.
