A 26-year-old man is due to appear at Ballymena Magistrates Court later charged with an attempted murder in County Antrim. A 26-year-old man has been remanded in custody charged with the attempted murder of a colleague following a work Christmas party in County Antrim.
The charge is in connection with a serious assault in the Main Street area of Cloughmills on Monday. Andrew Linton, 26, of Main Street, Coughmills threw a punch that knocked his victim to the ground on Monday.
The victim remains in a critical condition in hospital after he was assaulted at a pub in County Antrim. A detective constable told the court two witnesses claimed Andrew Linton threw two further punches to the man's head, as he was lying unconscious.
The 34-year-old was attacked at the bar on Main Street shortly before 02:40 GMT. He also said the victim was undergoing surgery on Tuesday.
The injured man, who is 34, is currently being treated at the Royal Victoria Hospital.
Mr Linton was remanded in custody until next year.
