It will be spent on converting vacant properties into affordable homes as part of a vision to bring about a "new era" for Scotland's high streets. Councils, housing associations and private developers had been urged to apply for a share of the funding pot. The town centre housing fund was originally £2m, but was increased to allow more areas to benefit. Local Government Minister Derek Mackay, said: "The Scottish government is determined that our town centres should be vibrant, attractive and safe places where local people and visitors alike want to live, work and do business in. "The town centre housing fund is one of a range of measures designed to encourage and support action to improve our town centres." Here is how the cash is being divided: |
