A spokesman said on Friday: "The biggest issue affecting the electricity network has been uprooted trees and other debris blown on to overhead power lines, which has caused damage and brought down the power lines in some areas." Guy Jefferson, network operations director for ScottishPower, told BBC Radio Wales on Saturday it had been a challenging time to restore power while the winds were still strong.
On Saturday the company said it was hopeful that power would be restored to all its customers by the end of the day. "It's been a bit of a nightmare for our staff - the conditions yesterday were absolutely appalling but they've made some inroads," he said.
"We've made significant progress and we are targeting to try and get the 1,500 customers that are still off back on today."
