Northern Ireland Electricity said it hoped to restore power to the majority of customers by 18:00 GMT on Saturday. Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) estimates that power has been restored to just over 34,000 customers.
The areas affected are the Ards Peninsula, Moneyreagh, Ballynahinch, Dromara, Downpatrick, Crossmaglen, Newcastle, Gilford and Castlewellan. It said its engineers were still working on the remaining faults.
