Teenagers arrested after stinger stops car in west Belfast Teenagers charged with car theft

Four teenagers have been arrested after police stopped a suspected stolen car in west Belfast on Saturday. A teenager has remanded in custody accused of being in a stolen car tracked by a police helicopter.
The police helicopter tracked the car, believed to have been stolen in north Belfast, after it was spotted at about noon on Saturday. The 17-year-old, who cannot be named, was arrested along with three other youths after police used a stinger device to halt the car in west Belfast.
It was stopped using a stinger device on the Suffolk Road later that afternoon. He was also charged with handling stolen goods.
An officer was injured in the shoulder during the operation and was taken to hospital for treatment. A 16-year-old has been charged with aggravated vehicle theft, handling stolen goods and other motoring offences, according to police.
A police dog was deployed after the teenagers fled on foot after the car was stopped. No information was available on when he is due before a court.
The teenagers are aged between 13 and 17. Two other youths, 13 and 15, have been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
The car was stolen in the north of the city around noon on Saturday.
The car involved was stopped by a stinger device on the Suffolk Road later that afternoon.
