Wanted Knowsley man arrested at Gatwick Airport over 2009 shooting

A man wanted in connection with a shooting in Merseyside in 2009 has been charged after he was arrested at Gatwick Airport.

Michael Kenneth Farrell, 27, was arrested on suspicion of using a false passport after his flight arrived from Alicante in Spain.

His charges relate to a shooting in Sugar Lane, Knowsley Village, in August 2009 when a car and flat were targeted.

Mr Farrell will appear before Liverpool Magistrates' Court later.

Mr Farrell, of no fixed abode but originally from Stockbridge Village in Knowsley, was charged with criminal damage and conspiracy to possess a firearm with intent to endanger life.
