"We hope it can be used as a template for reform of the law in other countries where all too often journalists and scientists find themselves fined huge sums for speaking out against corruption and malpractice," he said. But she added: "A lot will depend on how the courts apply the new law. We will keep it under review to see that the law does give scientists the increased confidence to publish that it promises."
