Mental health call on young jobless in Scotland

The Prince's Trust said more than one in ten report mental health problems associated with being out of work. The charity interviewed 16-25 year-olds. Suicidal thoughts, panic attacks or self-loathing were reported by 13% of young Scots, as a result of unemployment. The Trust carried out the research along with the Macquarie Group Foundation. It said the number of young people in Scotland claiming benefits for more than six months has increased by more than 240% since the start of the recession. |
