Steve Herbert: More time to question murder suspects Hull death: Three charged with murdering man
(about 13 hours later)
Detectives have been given more time to question two men and a woman suspected of murdering a 34-year-old man. Two men and a woman have been charged with the murder of a 34-year-old man from Hull.
Steve Herbert, from Hull, was "the victim of a sustained assault" on New Year's Day after apparently trying to split up a fight, police said. Samuel Jordan, 22, Soul Humphries, 21, and Tiffany Clark, 23, will appear at Hull Magistrates' Court on Monday, charged with murdering Steve Herbert.
He was found on the corner of Trafalgar Street and Beverley Road at 06:00 GMT on Wednesday and died later that day. He was found injured in Hull city centre on New Year's Day morning and died later that day.
Magistrates have granted police more time to hold two men, aged 22 and 21, and a 23-year-old woman in custody. Police have asked for a taxi driver who may have picked up the three suspects to come forward.
Four other men and a woman arrested in connection with the death have been released on bail. Det Ch Insp Matt Baldwin thanked those who had come forward with information.
Humberside Police said a £5,000 reward was on offer for information leading to an arrest and prosecution in connection with Mr Herbert's death. "However, we still need the driver of the taxi that picked up the suspects, at around 06:05 hours from the junction of Strand Close and Beverley Road, to come forward."
