Birmingham mother charged with child abandonment

A woman has been charged with abandoning her newborn baby in a Birmingham park.

The 26-year-old, from the Kingshurst area, was bailed to appear before magistrates on 29 January.

Baby Jade was found in a bag wrapped in a towel in undergrowth at a community park in Stechford in October.

Police said the 10-week-old, named after the dog that found her, had recovered from an infection and was progressing well in foster care.
