A three-year-old boy has gone missing from his home in Edinburgh. Police have appealed to people in the north of Edinburgh to look out for a three-year-old boy who has gone missing from his home.
Mikaeel Kular was last seen going to bed at his address in Ferry Gait at about 21:00 on Wednesday but when his family awoke he was not in the house. Mikaeel Kular was last seen going to bed in Ferry Gait Crescent at about 21:00 on Wednesday but when his family awoke he was not in the house.
The police helicopter is involved in the search and anyone who may have seen Mikaeel has been urged to contact officers. Supt Liz McAinsh said anyone who lives and works in the area should "look out for this wee boy".
Mikaeel was described as being 3ft tall and possibly wearing a beige hooded jacket, brown shoes and nightwear. Mikaeel is 3ft tall and was possibly wearing a beige hooded jacket.
Ch Insp Sara Buchanan said: "We have currently got a large police presence within the Drylaw area as we conduct our inquiries to trace Mikaeel. He may also have on brown shoes, blue jogging bottoms and nightwear.
"We are keen to hear from anyone who remembers seeing a young boy matching his description since yesterday evening to contact police immediately. Supt McAinsh asked local people to check their gardens and outbuildings. She said anyone walking in the area should pay particular attention to places such as public parks.
"As part of our investigation we are also trying to determine how the child has left his home and anyone with information that can assist with these inquiries is also asked to get in touch." She revealed that Mikaeel was in the house with his mother and four siblings. Officers are speaking to "all family members" about the disappearance.
Police Scotland are planning to brief the media on the search operation at 10:45. Supt Ainsh said: "Mikaeel is a three-year-old boy who was put to bed by his mother at 9 o'clock last night.
"When she woke up this morning at 7.15, Mickaeel wasn't in his bed and is not within his house.
"Police have been involved since that time. We have a live ongoing search within the local area."
Police Scotland said officers were particularly keen to speak to anyone who may have seen a child walking on his own in the Muirhouse and Pennywell areas of Edinburgh on Thursday morning.
Supt McAinsh declined to comment on suggestions of a custody dispute involving the family.
