Officers are continuing with a bid to trace the mother of a newborn baby left on a doorstep in the West Midlands. Officers trying to trace the mother of a newborn baby left on a doorstep in the West Midlands say they are concerned for the mother's welfare.
The boy, thought to be just hours old, was found by a 23-year-old man at a house in Birmingham. The man was alerted after hearing the baby's cries. The boy, thought to be between 24 and 48 hours old when found and named Tom by nurses, was left outside a house in Tile Cross, Birmingham.

"He is now being monitored in hospital."
Police also want to hear from anyone who has a friend, relative or neighbour who has had a baby, or who was due to give birth soon, who they have any concerns for.
