Police photographs of the alleged ringleader of a UK terror training camp with two of the 21/7 bombers in the Lake District have been released.

Mohammed Hamid is shown standing alongside Ramzi Mohammed, Yassin Omar and other unidentified men.

Woolwich Crown Court heard how the 50-year-old east London preacher organised trips to a remote farm.

He is accused with four others of terrorist offences linked to alleged terror training camps in the UK.

Other police photographs taken at the campsite showed co-defendants Mohammed Al-Figari and Mousa Brown in outdoor clothing.

'Strange' activities

The court heard that on at least one occasion in early May 2004, Mr Hamid was joined by Mohammed, Omar, Muktar Said Ibrahim and Hussain Osman.

The four men would go on to launch failed suicide bomb attacks in London on 21 July 2005, two weeks after the 7/7 bombings claimed 52 lives.

They were all jailed for life earlier this year over the attempted attacks.

Pc Paul Burke told the court he saw the men near the Baysbrown Farm campsite engaged in "strange" activities. He was off duty fell running at the time.

My initial thought was it was as if they were carrying rifles - my impression was as if they were practising with weapons Pc Paul Burke

He said: "It was quite strange. It was as if they were rolling forward and then jumping back up again.

"They rolled out of my sight and appeared lower down. Some were holding branches or sticks.

"My initial thought was it was as if they were carrying rifles. My impression was as if they were practising with weapons."

The court heard how Mr Burke watched groups of men exercising and shouting orders several times in the same part of the Lake District in 2004.

Sheep farmer Bruce Rowand, who owns the land, earlier told the court that the group of up to 15 Asian men stayed at the site between five and six times.

Mr Hamid, 50, of Clapton, east London, denies providing weapons and terrorist training, soliciting murder and possessing a terrorist document.

Mr Brown, 41, of Walthamstow, east London, denies providing and receiving terrorist training.

Mr Al-Figari, 42, of Tottenham, north London, denies attending terrorist training and possessing terrorist information.

Kibley da Costa, 24, of West Norwood, south-east London, and Kader Ahmed, 20, of Plaistow, east London also deny several charges.

The case continues.
