Four aid workers have been wounded by rebel gunfire as an aid convoy entered the besieged district of the central Syrian city of Homs, state media report. Mortar fire was heard in the city early on Saturday, and governor Talal al-Barazi told state media it was caused by "armed terrorist groups". A second tweet said: "Mortar shells falling in close proximity near the team and aid trucks that moved into Old City."
The anti-government Syrian Observatory for Human Rights blamed President Bashar al-Assad's forces. The UN is overseeing efforts to deliver food, water and medicine by truck to some 3,000 civilians in rebel-held areas.

The UN's humanitarian co-ordinator in Syria, Yacoub El Hillo, said UN teams had "pre-positioned food, medical and other basic supplies for immediate delivery."
He said that achieving the evacuation of civilians and the delivery of food would be a "milestone" for which all parties should be commended.
