Members of a mountain rescue team and a Royal Navy helicopter have gone to the aid of two climbers after they were caught up in an avalanche on Ben Nevis. A man and a woman have been injured in an avalanche in the Ben Nevis area.
Fort William-based Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team was alerted to the incident before 16:00. Police Scotland said the female hillwalker was in a serious condition.
A search and rescue helicopter from HMS Gannet at Prestwick is assisting with the rescue effort. The avalanche in the Coire Leis area of Lochaber was reported at about 13:10.
The Fort William-based Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team and a Royal Navy helicopter from HMS Gannet in Prestwick, Ayrshire, are at the scene.
