An air and sea rescue operation is under way for the six crewmembers of the 87m (285ft) long ship, said Falmouth coastguards. All six crewmembers were rescued by RNLI lifeboats from the Lizard and Falmouth.
RNLI lifeboats from the Lizard and Falmouth and a helicopter from RNAS Culdrose are taking part in the rescue. Coastguards said there is no chance of the ship being salvaged, despite efforts by lifeboat crews to pump water out of the 87m (285ft) long vessel.
Water is being pumped out of the vessel, which is understood to be carrying limestone. A RNAS Culdrose helicopter was also called to the rescue after the ship started sinking at about 07:00 GMT.
