Version 0 of 1.

A large explosive device was detonated against an Israeli Army vehicle patrolling the Israel-Lebanon border on Friday, and the Israeli military responded with tank and artillery fire against positions held by the Lebanese group Hezbollah near the border, Israeli military officials said. The blast, which damaged the armored vehicle, caused no apparent injuries to the soldiers inside. But the Israelis described it as a serious violation of the cease-fire that ended the 2006 war between Israel and Hezbollah. Lt. Col. Peter Lerner, an Israeli spokesman, said Israel “suspected a Hezbollah connection,” adding that it was reinforcing troops on the border. Israel Radio reported late Friday that an Islamic group affiliated with Al Qaeda claimed responsibility for the attack via Twitter. The reliability of the claim could not be verified.
