Morsi’s Son Faces Drug Charges in Egypt | Morsi’s Son Faces Drug Charges in Egypt |
(about 1 hour later) | |
Egyptian prosecutors said Monday that Abdullah Morsi, the youngest son of former President Mohamed Morsi, would be tried on charges of drug use and possession, an accusation his family dismisses as an attempt to tarnish its image. According to police accounts, Abdullah Morsi, 20, was arrested with a friend on March 1 when a local patrol became suspicious of a parked car on the side of the road on the east edge of Cairo. The police officers searched the car and found two rolled hashish cigarettes inside, they said. The family said the charges were fabricated and were intended to defame Mr. Morsi’s family. No date has been set yet for the trial. |
