Moray councillors have unanimously decided to maintain their membership of local government umbrella body Cosla. Several councils - including Aberdeen City Council - have recently signalled their intention to leave the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities. How government money should be spread between councils is at the root of the fallout. A special Moray meeting was called, and there was cross-party support for remaining a member of Cosla. Council leader Allan Wright said: "I have a clear mandate to continue to press for a needs-based allocation of resources in 2015-16 but without threatening to withdraw from an organisation that serves Moray well." |
