A mother and her two daughters aged 16 and 10 have been stabbed in what police say was a "tragic family incident" in Birmingham. | |
The 17-year-old brother of the girls was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after police were called to a house in Little Green Lane, Small Heath, at 07:20 GMT. | |
A neighbour raised the alarm after hearing screams from the family home. | |
The girls are in a serious condition in hospital, West Midlands Police said. | |
Their mother, in her 40s, is in a stable condition. | |

The woman and the 16-year-old were found with multiple knife wounds inside the house, while the 10-year-old was found on the pavement outside, also with multiple stab injuries. | |
A baby girl found unharmed inside the house is currently being cared for by family members. | |
The boy was arrested in the street and police found a knife nearby. | |
"This appears to be a contained, domestic incident. One man was arrested outside the address and we are not actively seeking anyone else in connection with the incident," Ch Insp Jack Hadley said. | |
