Man jailed for misogynist Melbourne bus tirade against French tourist
Version 0 of 1. One of two men who delivered a racist and misogynist tirade at a French tourist on a Melbourne bus has been jailed. David Robert Graham, 36, and Hayden Stirling Stewart, 26, were captured on video swearing at and abusing the tourist on a bus in Melbourne’s south-east in November 2012. The rant was posted on the internet where it received about 4.7m views. During the verbal attack the woman was told to speak English or die. Magistrate Jennifer Goldsbrough described the offending as very, very serious. She said the words were “overwhelmingly misogynist and sexist remarks and occasionally racist”. Goldsbrough said the attack was unrelenting and the victim was not just the French tourist, but everyone on the bus. She said Graham was the main player in the attack. Goldsbrough on Thursday jailed Graham for 21 days and placed him on a 15-month community corrections order. Stewart will be sentenced in the Moorabbin magistrates court later on Thursday. |
