A search is expected to resume for a man from Northern Ireland missing after the boat he was on sank while on a fishing trip in County Westmeath. A man from Northern Ireland has died after being rescued from a lake in the Republic of Ireland.

It is due to resume at first light on Friday. Damien Delaney, RNLI operations manager at Lough Ree said the search resumed between 07:30 and 08:00 GMT on Friday.
Emergency services were called out at about 15:20 GMT on Thursday. "We'll go back to the search area again, where we left off yesterday evening, start again at View Point, we'll be assisted by people from Athlone Sub Aqua and Lanesborough Sub Aqua and some local anglers," he said.
"There was a lot of debris in the water, fishing stuff and containers floating.
"There was quite a long trail of debris leading right across the lake for a distance of about two miles, so we'll be following that trail area today.
"We'll be following that trail area today."
Mr Delaney said the search teams were holding onto hope that the missing man had made it ashore.
"We'll be concentrating on the shore area as well. We're reluctant to speculate, we just live in hope that he's alive somewhere,"

Lough Ree RNLI Lifeboat operations manager Damien Delaney said: "This was a major search and rescue operation on Lough Ree involving the RNLI, coastguard, Athlone Sub Aqua, Lanesborough Sub Aqua, and other local boats.
"The lifeboat crew were able to rescue two men from the water, but a third remains missing.
"Our thoughts are with the men's families this evening. We will be launching again at first light to resume the search."
