West Yorkshire Police said the accused man was due to appear before Pontefract magistrates on Saturday. David Hill, of Lakeside Meadows, Pontefract, was remanded in custody after appearing at Pontefract Magistrates' Court.
He is due to appear at Leeds Crown Court on Friday.
