On Saturday night, a candlelit vigil was held for the families at the banks of the River Bann - a familiar spot for the anglers. RTÉ's midlands correspondent Ciaran Mullooly said the 60-year-old was able to tell police that the three fishermen had become separated from their boat, which was significant as there had been fears that Mr Burke was either trapped inside, or under, the vessel.
Their boat sank during a fishing trip on the lough. Mr Mullooly added that Mr Trimble said the anglers had noticed water coming into their boat near New Point and that all three had left the boat and tried to get to shore using fishing equipment to stay afloat.
However, Mr Burke, became separated from the others.
The journalist said there had been real hope for a time on Sunday that the missing angler would be found, but it was not to be, and a smaller search involving Garda (police) divers will resume at about 10:00 GMT on Monday.
