Version 0 of 1.

The cross examination of Clive Goodman, the News of the World's former royal editor, has been "parked" by the judge because of his ill health, the jury in the hacking trial has been told.

After two days of adjournment, the trial has now resumed with the evidence of Cheryl Carter, the former personal assistant to Rebekah Brooks who has been charged with conspiring to pervert the course of justice by permanently removing seven boxes of archived material from News International just before the News of the World closed.

Carter, of Chelmsford, Essex, has denied concealing evidence from police investigating phone hacking and other activities at News International between 6 July and 9 July 2011

The trial has already heard that boxes Carter retrieved included several notebooks from her work as a beauty editor, as well as some of Brooks' diaries and notepads.

Just before Carter started her evidence, jurors were told by Mr Justice Saunders that he would now "park Mr Goodman's evidence for the time being".

The judge told them that Goodman had spent most of the day on Friday at St Thomas's hospital and is waiting to see his own consultant cardiologist.

He reminded them that he had told them previously that Goodman had a "heart procedure" some time ago. Jurors have already heard he also suffers hypertension and asthma.

Goodman was being cross examined by counsel for Andy Coulson, the former editor of News of the World, when he fell ill.

He was examined by the resident matron at the Old Bailey on Friday morning and just before 11am the judge told the jury that he had been taken by ambulance to St Thomas's hospital.

Coulson and Goodman deny all charges against them.

The trial continues.
