The crash happened near Coventry, between junctions 2 and 3 at about 07:45 BST.

The Highways Agency said it was working hard to get the motorway fully reopened but oil and diesel which had been spilled onto the road was proving a "large task" to clear. The Highways Agency said the resurfacing was a "large task that involved removing the top layer, relaying and allowing the new surface time to cool."
There were long delays in both directions, with slow traffic for eight-and-a-half miles between junctions 3 and 4, it said. The road would likely stay closed until at least 02:00 on Wednesday, it said.
