A man who has been arrested twice in a week at the home of Selena Gomez has been charged with felony stalking.

Che Cruz, 20, has also been charged with violating a court order to stay away from the US singer and actress.

He pleaded not guilty to the charges and bail was set at $160,000 (£96,000).

Cruz appeared in court on Monday, having been arrested on Friday at Gomez's house, hours after he had been released from prison and told to stay away from her.

The Los Angeles district attorney's office said Cruz jumped the fence at Gomez's home before his second arrest.

He is due back in court on 17 April and if he is found guilty, he could face up to four years in prison.

Cruz was first arrested on Sunday 30 March in the singer's guesthouse.

He admitted to trespassing in court on Wednesday 2 April and was been sentenced to 45 days in prison but was released two days later.

Despite being ordered to stay away, sheriff's deputies re-arrested Cruz hours after his release, at Gomez's home in Calabasas, California.

Gomez rose to fame as the star of the TV series Wizards of Waverly Place and has since gone on to feature in a number of films including Spring Breakers, alongside James Franco.

Her most recent album, Stars Dance, reached number one in the US, Canada and Mexico.

Gomez has previously dated Canadian singer Justin Bieber.
