Version 0 of 1.

A police officer has been charged with 11 counts of publishing and distributing indecent images on his mobile phone.

PC James Addison, 37, of the Metropolitan Police's diplomatic protection group was arrested with three other officers.

He will appear at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on 23 April.

The other officers face no further action but have been put on restricted duties pending a misconduct probe.

'Failure to report'

Jenny Hopkins, from the Crown Prosecution Service London, said: "Following a review of the evidence, we have concluded that James Addison, a police constable in the diplomatic protection group, should be charged with 11 offences.

"It is alleged that between February 17, 2013 and June 6, 2013, PC Addison distributed moving images via his mobile telephone.

"We have determined that there is sufficient evidence for a realistic prospect of conviction."

Scotland Yard said a separate misconduct investigation had also been carried out involving a further 10 officers who had received obscene images but failed to report them.

Of the 10, six remain on restricted duties, while four face no further action.

Most of those investigated were from the diplomatic protection group, while two were from the boroughs.

The police force confirmed the images did not involve children.
