A woman has denied three counts of child neglect over the food she provided for her son. A mother has denied child neglect by feeding her 15-year-old son only porridge oats and vegetables.
The 49-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, is accused of feeding the teenager a diet of oats and vegetables. The woman, 49, from the Ceredigion area, is also accused of forcing the schoolboy to sleep on cardboard sheets on a wooden floor.
Appearing before Swansea Crown Court, she replied "I'm not guilty" as each of the charges was put to her. She faces two counts of child neglect and one of child cruelty over a period of 18 months, at Swansea Crown Court.
The woman is due to go on trial on 2 June and it is expected to last for three days. The woman was given unconditional bail ahead of a trial on 2 June. Her son is currently in foster care.
The 15-minute court hearing was told the woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested at the family home after being reported by her son.
The court heard how a trial will hear evidence from the boy as well as considering GP's medical records.
