Roy John Penny, of Malham Way, Oadby, attacked a 64-year-old man in the town last July after an argument began in a park in Bluebell Close. The victim was left with a large wound in his neck measuring about 4in (10cm). Penny was sentenced to a total of nine years in prison and four years on extended licence. He was sentenced at Leicester Crown Court after pleading guilty to wounding with intent at an earlier hearing. Investigating officer Det Con Gary Dickinson said: "The victim sustained a horrific injury which caused artery and nerve damage requiring several operations. "Penny carried out a vicious attack leaving his victim with a constant reminder of that day. "He continues to have limited use of his left arm and shoulder caused by the lasting nerve damage." |
