Police have charged a 30-year-old woman with the murder of a baby in Belfast. A woman has appeared in court accused of murdering a baby boy in Belfast.
The child was taken to hospital following an incident at a house in Connsbrook Avenue, in the east of the city, on 7 March. The 30-year-old was charged by detectives investigating the child's death on 9 April.
The baby died on 9 April. The woman was arrested in March and was detained under the Mental Health Act. The baby was injured in an incident in the city last month.
She is due to appear in court in Belfast later on Thursday afternoon. Reporting restrictions have been imposed to protect the defendant's identity.

After being charged with murder she was brought before Belfast Magistrates' Court at short notice on Thursday.
She was then remanded back into medical care.
During the brief hearing a defence lawyer successfully sought an order banning the press from identifying her.
No media representatives were present in court at the time to challenge the application.
However, it was later confirmed the prohibition was granted under the terms of the Human Rights Act.
The woman is due to appear again in court next month.
