Duchess of Cornwall's brother Mark Shand injured in fall

The Duchess of Cornwall's brother, Mark Shand, has sustained a serious head injury in a fall, Clarence House said.

The 62-year-old travel writer and conservationist has been taken to hospital in New York.

"The duchess, her family and the Prince of Wales are clearly deeply concerned and are being kept closely informed," a statement from Clarence House said.

Mr Shand is chairman of the Elephant Family, a movement which exists to save the endangered Asian elephant.
